Boca Raton - AH3
Continue reading "Boca Raton - AH3"
"Boca Raton is an ongoing musical project started by Martijn Tellinga in 1999. It hovers at the edges of synthesized and concrete-acoustic soundworlds. The abstraction, or rather reflection, of concrete sources through electronic synthesis and manipulation creates an alias in sound which shares the associative and narrative character of the everyday soundtrack that surrounds us.
By using elements of both worlds, its musical form shows the integration and co-existence of natural - unstaged - sound and its artificially created reflection.
'AH3' is a musicalised Morse-encoding of an arbitrary 10 minutes-recording, while shopping in the Albert Heyn Supermarket. It is part of the bigger project 'Codee' by Martijn Tellinga and Jan Robert Leegte. They have created a Sound/ Image environment based on this same principal, using mechanical communication as aid for human interpretation and personal signification.
Solo-works of Martijn Tellinga (1974, Amsterdam, Netherlands) have been commisioned by labels such as - Korm Plastics - (Hol), - Spekk - (Japan) and - Cronica Electronica - (Portugal). Since September 2003, he has been studying Sonology at the Royal Conservatory The Hague, Netherlands. In 1999 he started the platform for contemporary electro-acoustic music Stichting Mixer, having organised numerous events and released over 25 titles today. Together with Dutch composers Radboud Mens and Danny de Graan he forms the performance trio 'Elmgar Ten', building soundinstallations functioning as performance-tools. Other current projects include the development of an integrated sound/image-environment based on Morse coding, and the composition of a soundtrack for the Dutch Institute For Animation."
