"we wanted to celebrate unfoundsound's first anniversary by offering something special to everybody who supported us throughout this first year. we therefore asked some of our favorite artists, most of them already recognized and not represented on the netlabel scene, to give us a single track that we would include in a compilation. the response was overwhelmingly positive. we then completed the line-up with several foundsound and unfoundsound artists. and here is the result: 2h 45mn to explore numerous genres of electronic music through 26 tracks. the best netrelease ever? we don't know. the longest? maybe!" Monta - Disappointment

"monta releases their debut album, unsuspecting, on their own montamusic imprint. and now unfoundsound offers a sweet follow-up to this melancholic, multi-genre release. foundsound co-founder, cyhl (a.k.a. fusiphorm) -- already a pal to the kansas city duo (and a vocoder-loving french guy) -- decided to take a stab at remixing one of the tracks on the album just for kicks. cyhl and friends were pleased with the end result, which prompted the idea for this remix ep on unfoundsound. the original version is a dark, ultra-melodic tune shaped for laid-back groovin'. butane and newcomer diss0nance each rework the track into quirky, minimal dancefloor killers. fusiphorm's remix bumps softly through pleasantly gloomy textures and shadowy reverbs. ezekiel honig re-sculpts the track into his own gentle, snippy, slow-tapping blanket of überbliss. and miguel tutera's version stays true to the original while maintaining a loopy, jazzy, near-ambient groove." "For Croation artist Plaster's first release on Archipel, we present two steamy dub influenced minimal jams and two equally deep remixes from Butane and Leander Kruese. With Conspiracy Part 1, Plaster takes us into a humid space full of shuddering hisses and stabs and a deep dub bassline which just makes it all the more deeper and steamier. Conspiracy Part 2 is just as steamy and fueled by a deep throbbing kick surrounded with wet crackles and pops. The silver lining to this cloud is the deep hypnotic stab which drags the mind out far into the distance. Butane's remix of Conspiracy Part 01 is a dancier but still very dub influenced and spacey journey through the cracks and crevices of the original. And lastly, Leander Kruese's remix of Conspiracy Part 02 draws on the far out stabs of the original and is just as dubby. With this release, Plaster and co. will take you on a journey of unexplored depths in an ocean of vibrating and energetic sounds." (From the Archipel's release page)

Butane - Finger Control EP

"unfoundsound introduces a newbie on the scene, butane (a.k.a. andrew rasse) from st. louis, missouri. the fun part is that butane has only been producing electronic music since september 2004! yet his sound offers an unprecedented level of maturity for a producer with only three months of experience. he has a profound grip on what minimal techno should feel like and sound like--using a subtle dose of hypnotic repetitiveness driven by constantly evolving blips, bleeps and found sounds. butane's debut four-track ep is multi-faceted--good for dj-sets in the afternoon, pre-parties, afterparties, plus offering excellent dj tools for the peak hours.
