"Daniel Whiting is an electronic improviser working with digital processing and sampling, living in Australia. In his own words about his work: "I am interested in the transformation of simple ideas or sounds into much more complex and engaging arrangements. Through the application of systems, production techniques and digital signal processing, I am able to create dense textures and layers of sound, stemming from simple, often overlooked sounds.
[...]
I like to deal with sounds that are usually eliminated from contemporary production. Buzz, hum, clipped signals, lead contact, fractured melodies. Anything that is interesting, but not instantly "desirable" from a sonic point of view. I also like to have depth, and interaction with the sounds I'm working with, a sense that these sounds are taking on a new character and evolving. Giving the impression that I have just set these sounds off, given them a path, and they are simply following it of their own will. I take great interest in production techniques of all kinds of music, I like to take these and apply them very differently, sometimes combining them with various other approaches to attain sounds that are familiar, yet wildly out of context.""
