"fernando lagreca from barcelona (.es) produces warm micro ambient spreading an immense relaxedness.
his releases on autoplate.org "suave" and "nadador" set the standards for his second album "funicular, which concentrates on soundscapes slightly moving from one point to another, and back in harmony, like a ride with the funicular from peak to peak, feeling like flying.
born in uruguay the sympathic bon-vivant moved to the city of barcelona to get inspired by it's wide scene of electronic music.
his music found best recognition and he performed in various locations, like the festival "mostra" happening in an old church.
the title track "funicular" was presented in another festival called "bam" and is included in an "urban music" CD compilation published by the culture department of barcelona.
in summer 2004 he was invited to play various schowcases in mexico and created this fine album for realaudio.ch.
a sunny musical parrillada for gourmets." (From the Realaudio's release page)

Fernando Lagreca - Nadador LP
Continue reading "Fernando Lagreca - Nadador LP"
"While listening to 'Nadador' (engl.: 'swimmer') one might get the impression that Fernando Lagreca must be an entirely happy person, as these eight songs are so full of friendly sun spots spraying out the first blossoms of spring.
"The swimmer keeps crawling in the water, a continous looping movement which is the only possibility to avoid sinking down the ground. So, a swimmer is always on the run because his looping movements help him to progress further and so is Nadador." Fernando states.
Mixing glitches with oscillations 'Nadador' carries this certain trademark 'fragility', rich with maximal texture expression that only people from south-american seem able to transpose. Or did you ever imagine that fading a well distorted e-guitar into a warm pop-ambient track could result into something else then just messing it up ? Perhaps not and it indeed sounds unfamiliar, but conceptual work like in 'Planea' stands for the certain characteristics of Fernando Lagrecas song assembling with etheric beauty to stand out.
Drifting by the subtropical Fauna 'Espera' or melting by the faithful raindrops glitching off in 'Umbrella' - Lagreca always creates maximal seducing lullabys, that are full of warmth and liberation.
Take a dip and enjoying these 57 minutes serenely growing soundscapes. 'Nadador' will be one of those few releases listening to will make you smile even in the rain." (From the Autoplate's release page)

"Initially the motivation behind our new compilation was to build a sequel to the 2003 'Silent Season Dub' compilation - to blend warm ambient with minimal dub concepts. But during the phasis of collecting tracks we figured that this compilation will turn out more experimental, more rough than than the reference. So we decided to put things into a new context, that would either underline the variety of concepts but also stand for each artists own formular of sound: 'Crossways'.
Herein, electronic music with rather minimal rhythmpatterns are crossed with spheric ambience, in different moods, different slopes and different colours. The listener is able to find warm ambient pieces like 'Warm Night Lullaby' by Transient or more dubbed out ambience with Zen Savauges 'Sunken Streetlights'. You can lose yourself in the organic cycles of Boris Heizmann's 'Azure' or drift along with 'Scrap of Truth' by Selffish. But If you feel like enjoying some darker felt material then you'd like to explore the realms of Sgnl_Fltr's chamber dub in 'All Form' by or listening to the crickets resting in Kenneth Kirschner's 'June 8, 2003 (excerpt)'. Generally said, if you're interested in the contemporary minimal electronics of 2005 you'll definately find the one or other piece within this compilation that will suit you fine.
As the music crosses the flash artwork of this releases does so, too - if you reload the page you'll figure changing background pictures of the cover artwork. The pictures were taken in several countries where Joerg (Digitalverein) has performed in a Thinner context. Note that this compilation is split into 3 parts, each part about 60 minutes of length. If you want to enjoy the compilation mixed then you can download the Crossways Mix by Selffish." (From the Thinner's release page)
