"01. g_n44f - ibs
i got inspired by my friend's video and made this track, so this is basically a sound track for ibs music video - the video was filmed before the track.
02. g_n4df - derhyfer
i originally made this a couple years back and revised it for this release. g_n44f - rhyfer (mn004 on minusn.com) was created based on this track.
03. g_n4dp - shimanto
this too was made a few years ago. i taped the river sounds of one of the most beautiful rivers of japan, 'shimanto' in kochi, japan and the other water sounds at some house in kagawa, japan. i picked few segments of the river sounds out of 30 minute long recording of the river.
04. g_n4dp - shimanto (cloth remix)
the sound samples of 'shimanto' were up on my homepage for a little while. this russian artist created this remix using the samples. this is a little different from the original or the first remix he did which was also on my homepage for a little while - he revised the original remix for this release.
05. g_n44f - ibs (music video)
i first assigned sounds onto every single moving object. the music came after that." (From the On-Li's release page)

G_n44f - 120_1 EP

"built around a running motif of crinkling, disparate bursts of spectral noise and fragmented sounds, proving once again that static can function as paint as well as thinner, this ep runs the gamut of being brittle and unyielding then wistful then mutably capricious, raising, thwarting and reworking expectations of what the music will actually do or where it will go. the music shifts so easily from humming, subterranean beats to flexible gumby rhythms with chirping, flying ninja melodic embellishments that there is no question that the machine have been allowed to run unattended since the ghost is definitely visible in the machine shifting the gears and tuning the works.
despite their ostensible minimalism, these tracks retain the element of surprise and development, conveying a definite sense of directedness without immediately giving away its direction or intent. you know where you are but not always where you are being taken, whether it is a droid track such as 'rhyfer' involving further into itself in a time scale that exceeds its own duration; or the languid, leisurely air of 'akari', whose lush synths and swaying beats evoke island vistas and shady groves; or the delicate pointillism of 'drymonkey' that retains its melodic and structural coherence while its rhythm and melody are thankfully unfettered and free to do as they will. then there's a track like 'suxl', which will surely not reveal its charms to mere passersby. admission has its price, though the sliding scale fee buys a sliding scale of rewards.
in the end another listen is required, since knowing that you've been taken somewhere doesn't mean you necessarily know where that somewhere is." (From the -N's release page)

"the first release by -n has a sense of cohesiveness and maturity that many long-running labels never attain. the cohesiveness is provided by the constant of noise; the music is more brightly colored than the typical browns, blacks and greys than the notion of noise typically suggests. the use of noise as music is about breaking conceptions. a ghost of an echo can become musical and arrest us in a way a note from a guitar cannot. we cannot listen expecting the sounds we have grown used to - we listen as if hearing music for the first time. we listen to the sounds we have been taught to ignore all our lives. we become aware of these sounds, these aural shapes, timbres and shadows. may we never walk through an empty hall, a quiet garden or a busy street the same way again.
andrey kiritchenko kicks it off with some itchy goodness in the form of 'spreading comets.' brooding melodic suggestions create a mood, a sense of space that begins the journey. c6 starts your head nodding with 'dusty link,' proving along the way that noise and melody are not mutually exclusive. following is a fine minimal dance choon by klitekture records' lod. 'esponja 5' is minimal at its glitchy best, a track perfectly at home on the dancefloor and on headphones.
the dictionary describes coeval as 'contemporary,' but we think their music is the sound of tomorrow. think of the movie bladerunner sounding as gritty as it looked and you have coeval's 'fluido y neutro,' a track that is as much a vision as it is a song. muffrare continues that vibe with strong percussive workout in 'itt.' fracture noise pulls us firmly back onto the dancefloor with 'esc,' a track that is pure evocation. it is rife with suggestions of memories, spectres of feelings.
by the time g_n44f's 'conjunction' is playing, you are firmly within the realm of noise, listening not only to a vision, but listening to something near you that you can't quite define. irish pulls the tempo back down with 'mic check,' a steady and relaxing track that lulls you while the voice keeps your ears perked. shalma- edges into deep house territory with 'foppish-foppish'. don't get too comfortable, tho - shalma- throws a curve before the end. the release closes with masaya sasaki's 'major7,' a meditation on music and noise that provides closure to this journey while leaving the door ajar for what may lie ahead. - arp laszlo" (From the -N's release page)
