Sinergy Networks Vs. Thinner - Thinnergy
Continue reading "Sinergy Networks Vs. Thinner - Thinnergy"
"Finally we're proud to present the longawaited cooperation release with the fine spanish Sinergy Networks Label. Before we continue with the (usual) release description, some words about Sinergy.
Sinergy Networks is a netlabel managed by Luiz Ortiz / L.O.D. who got socialized with electronic music being 17, working in Ireland setting up sound systems at different venues. Being a passioned music lover, Luiz found the Vinyl/CD Label 'Klitekture' 2001 in Gran Canaria. Klitekture has meanwhile had releases by Sutekh, Mikael Stavostrand and Deadbeat amongst other split EPs. In addition to 'Klitekture', the netlabel Sinergy Networks was created early 2003 to experiment a bit more on electronic music, applying the theory of sinerism to music production.
Current Sinergy Artists are Funzion, Gurtz, Abstract Groove, Pep Gaya, Franco Cinelli or Tupperwear. Altogether, the label has been very active the past months by doing new releases in a rhythm of 2 weeks, providing damn nice releases related to minimal house/techno. Thinner and Sinergy Networks share similar circles of interest regarding certain types of music, so we thought of getting together, becoming allies.
So, for this special occassion, we present four artists known from their Sinergy releases and have four thinner artists doing remixes. According to this release, there is a pendant release on Sinergy-networks.com (SN021), that features those four thinner artists with their own tracks, remixed by Sinergy artists! Go download! - but first take a listen to this package, providing 8 new tracks!
Bern from Lille, France, who has recorded 12"s for the cologne based Traum Label starts off with the (maybe) most reduced track ever released on Thinner (it's similar reduced as Thomas Jaldemark's 'Highway Patrol' from THN001!). If you listen carefully you'll find many mini-bleeps, crackles & pops spraying like a campfire during darkness, forming an abstract rhythmic building. We thought that Bern's song could need a Pheek treatment aside Thinner's, so there goes his Acid mix, that sounds like a breeding mixture of organic chemical ingredients getting stired in a huge metallic bowl.
'Minerva' by Funzion is a classic floating minimal dubhouse tune like we haven't had it in a while on Thinner. Consisting of a few functional elements you're easily put to seesawing. The remix of Theodor Zox is more complex and crisp in detail, cutting off the hook melody however keeping the tonal sequence. Nice!
Next up is Gurtz from Buenos Aires, a promising talent and also an artist who has been in the focus recently with releases on Stadtgruen and a compilation track for Clevermusic. 'Klok' from Gurtz sounds like the pure summer, mellow pads combined with warmth and minimal rythmic details that feel like a sunrise. Smoothness! So let's hear the starbreezing transformation of secret agent deluge from Montreal. He truely sequenced a profound shimmering gem of glitter pads and sparkling effects that dive within the warm spaces Gurtz original track has left!
Last but not least we have the contribution 'Sol' by Luiz Ortiz himself aka L.O.D. with the Marko Fürstenberg remix, a solid dubhouse icon. While L.O.D. balances his mix out, Marko's version is a little more straight, securely persecuting the flow of the original track." (From the Thinner's release page)

"LOD DESCRIPTION
LAVA is a project that I created during my last visit to the canary islands, my home town. I have created music based on the scenery I was surrounded with mixing organic and hypnotic components with complex textures that fill the piece.
This pieces were done for a live set I made for chroma festival in Tenerife and then were sequenced in Barcelona to make them full separate tracks giving them a more dancefloor appeal while keeping the hypnotic and granular parts to it. I have also done a series of pictures from organic lava rocks at the time that I mixed then with software textures to represent the music with visuals, during the festival I proyected all this pictures and another person mixed the textures like it shows in the pictures below making it a very special work full of meaning and feelings" (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

LOD - Taskenti EP
Continue reading "LOD - Taskenti EP"
"e-mail interview with lod (by kengo miyazaki)
km: this ep is very minimal and dark, yet i feel some kind of warmth in the melancholic context. what's the theme behind this ep?
lod: that is totally right. even though it's a dark project, there is some light on it. i always try to make a balance with this contrast, and this time, it's a bit different since i have used some sounds from really fresh and organic brazilian sounds that interact with my usual - more industrial sounds.
taskenti is the name of a plant, and the meaning behind it is that this work grows on you. you probably won't get an instant feeling. it'll take time to flower.
km: the warmth comes not only from the guitar-like sound or the pads of the first two tracks, but also from the non-melodic noise samples that are used in the last two tracks. what kind of roles do noise/glitch sounds play in your compositions?
lod: noise and glitch sounds are frequently in my compositions, but the amount of importance changes depending on which projects i work on. i would say my music is not that noisy and experimental as your question may sound. i feel more sentimental, and if i use noise, that's because i feel there is space for it without disturbing anyone's ears. there is always the difference between use and abuse.
km: all the individual sounds are quite powerful and have unique and strong characters of their own. what kind of equipment or sound sources do you use and what's the secret of putting together all those 'almost uncontrollable' sounds into harmony?
lod: i mainly work with a computer although i add some synths, and i also use some analog guitar filters and a compressor.
well, it's hard to say with words what i think and do in the studio... it's just impossible for me to explain.
km: lastly, you're currently running two labels - klitekture and sinergy-networks. i like the concept of sinergy networks - http://www.sinergy-networks.com/sinergy.htm. has the sinergy project affected the way you operate klitekture? is there going to be your own klitekture release anytime soon?
lod: well, sinergy-networks has helped me to develop my sound and to work with different artists and sounds over this year. klitekture is my first, most loved and respected project, and i know its time now for me to release something on it. on our last compilation 'epitome vol1,' i released my first track called 'taylor' with other tracks from andreas tilliander and tomas jirku. finally, i will release my first ep after the summer called '4wd' with a sutekh remix. then, i am also thinking on releasing various eps with my sinergy remixes and other works from sinergy on klitekture." LOD + Bern + Gurtz - Electroide EP
Continue reading "LOD + Bern + Gurtz - Electroide EP"
"Electroide is an experimental work of LOD mixing his usual minimal rythms ansd beautiful melodies with eletro sounds, broken sounds and voices first time seen in one of his productions that are treated like sounds that overall makes an original and interesting minimal techno work
All the songs were first recorded under simple estructures in logic with virtual instruments mainly reaktor and then processed and sequenced in live to break the structures, sounds and most improtantly to combine thanks to the flexibility of live different elements within a concept
Bern, one of the new upcoming talents from france recording in labels like traum or trapez has been the artist in change of manipulating electroide from LOD making 2 remixes of serious and purist minimalism different to his production on vinyl. His remixes were done in record time sharing all this material through internet and have been presented to you in record time via internet also.
Gurtz is also a new talent from argentina and collaborates in the release with an impressive remix programing the original sounds in a very personal way to give his perception of minimalism to this work. In the near future we will see more releases from Gurtz and his mate Funzion also from argentina." (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

Abstract Groove + LOD + Silence - Digitalized EP
Continue reading "Abstract Groove + LOD + Silence - Digitalized EP"
"Cosmic Polarity and Duphonic are 2 works of organic dub by abstract groove from tenerife, canary islands who works mainly with hardware and acustic guitar and basses that gives a tremnendous sound quality to his productions
Sounds and loops were sent to LOD and SILENCE who digitalized the work with programas like live and nueando with a powerfull analog sound bank
This is the first series of interactions with classic and modern artists to mix technique/manipulation flexibility with sounds quality passing the work from one to the other to see how sinergy can work with artists with similar tastes but with a very different background and production procedures/techniques" (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

"we have made a tipical interaction in this first release sharing sounds created on reaktor and other virtual instruments aswell as sounds made on anlaog gear
The original tracks are sequenced in logic and nuendo while the remixed tracks are detailed treated in LIVE to extract the most important or esencial from the work to give then a personal touch. While SILENCE destroys the work from LOD making it more hipnotic and experimental, This one gives more rythm to the tracks from his mate from the islands using some sounds from chilean producer RECEPTOR

Sarah Goldfarb + LOD + Abstract Groove + Funzion + Marko Fuerstenberg - Absolut Funk EP
Continue reading "Sarah Goldfarb + LOD + Abstract Groove + Funzion + Marko Fuerstenberg - Absolut Funk EP"
"Sinergy's debut of French Jean-Vince, publishing under Sarah Goldfarb artistic name, offers 2 original tracks & 4 remixes in this EP, perfectly defined by its title at the same time that becomes a great example of established connections between styles as electro as techno with one of its predecessor: funk style.
The original keeps its virtue in simple structures & deep effectiveness. Funk's a style that has always had very good results coming from french artists, like Jean-Vince shows with the perfect theme to seize the essence of the maxi. Absolute Funk can make you dance with its classic & intense rhythm base & fly with its ambient synths.
The other track of the french artist is twisted, direct and covered by quasi-african digital percussion and synthetic sound, getting into a more notorious electro tendency trough a trance rhythmic repetition.
LOD's revision of Absolute Funk, saves the original groove while adds as touches of suggestive tecno minimal as clicks shaped in electric sounds embedded in rhythm, welcoming on this way multiple sound registers that go on following one each other, so it reaches the perfect marriage between rhythm & interference.
Abstract Groove recreation is thicker and abstract than the other one, with some drops of "out toning" & rugged noise. Again he offers an amazing, acid & dark construction with burst basses close to the limit of saturation in which funk doubles up & falls into new shapes.
Funzion's remix is starred by spaced synths featuring a treated voice that contributes to give a sensual air to the track. All of this through a strong rhythm frame that comes into best electro, the one that catch you & can hypnotize through repetion & intensity.
German Marko Fuerstenberg shows the strongest face of the remixed track, producing under Detroit sound focus, always close to mystery & using sharp synths to transmit it, from clicky minimal tecno cleaf.
Summing up, it's a roller coaster of sounds & rhythmic spirals in which funk dominates but hands it stamp over other stylish experiences. The legacy of this style is still alive, at least from 21 st century artists. It's a perfect sample.
DimensionSonica" (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

"the first release by -n has a sense of cohesiveness and maturity that many long-running labels never attain. the cohesiveness is provided by the constant of noise; the music is more brightly colored than the typical browns, blacks and greys than the notion of noise typically suggests. the use of noise as music is about breaking conceptions. a ghost of an echo can become musical and arrest us in a way a note from a guitar cannot. we cannot listen expecting the sounds we have grown used to - we listen as if hearing music for the first time. we listen to the sounds we have been taught to ignore all our lives. we become aware of these sounds, these aural shapes, timbres and shadows. may we never walk through an empty hall, a quiet garden or a busy street the same way again.
andrey kiritchenko kicks it off with some itchy goodness in the form of 'spreading comets.' brooding melodic suggestions create a mood, a sense of space that begins the journey. c6 starts your head nodding with 'dusty link,' proving along the way that noise and melody are not mutually exclusive. following is a fine minimal dance choon by klitekture records' lod. 'esponja 5' is minimal at its glitchy best, a track perfectly at home on the dancefloor and on headphones.
the dictionary describes coeval as 'contemporary,' but we think their music is the sound of tomorrow. think of the movie bladerunner sounding as gritty as it looked and you have coeval's 'fluido y neutro,' a track that is as much a vision as it is a song. muffrare continues that vibe with strong percussive workout in 'itt.' fracture noise pulls us firmly back onto the dancefloor with 'esc,' a track that is pure evocation. it is rife with suggestions of memories, spectres of feelings.
by the time g_n44f's 'conjunction' is playing, you are firmly within the realm of noise, listening not only to a vision, but listening to something near you that you can't quite define. irish pulls the tempo back down with 'mic check,' a steady and relaxing track that lulls you while the voice keeps your ears perked. shalma- edges into deep house territory with 'foppish-foppish'. don't get too comfortable, tho - shalma- throws a curve before the end. the release closes with masaya sasaki's 'major7,' a meditation on music and noise that provides closure to this journey while leaving the door ajar for what may lie ahead. - arp laszlo" (From the -N's release page)

Franco Cinelli + Sr Replicante + Nicolas Purman + LOD + Pep Gaya + Raul Sust - Sense
Continue reading "Franco Cinelli + Sr Replicante + Nicolas Purman + LOD + Pep Gaya + Raul Sust - Sense"
"The original track called "Sense" is a groovy song, with the highest level of subtleness, which is orientated to the corrosive funk dance floor. It's been reconstructed by five artists so that the maxi-single becomes a stylistic fan rounding as crispy minimal as deep and bubbled dub.
Sr Replicante's vision is dancefull on the same way, but following a sober and galactic focus. In Nicolas Purman's remix, echo and delay own the pure dub structure in order to dive into a flown and sugestive trip. Pep Gaya's artwork shows his hypnotic face, through minimal, introspective and inductive techno.
LOD turns the original into a deep bass'dub with dynamic rhythmic, becoming a quasi-organic clicks' dialogue that changes intensity without loosing any kind of vitality. Shultztek's re-creation is a perfect sample of minimalism as art-style, in which silences dance with keen sounds, the repeat disturbs and gets you into a mental abduction.
To sume up, the prevalition of dub basses is the common factor for the 6 tracks that integrate the debut of the argentinian Franco Cinelli for Sinergy-Networks.
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED." (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

Mokira + Kripis Tulo + LOD + Mikael Stavöstrand - Tatikka Remixes
Continue reading "Mokira + Kripis Tulo + LOD + Mikael Stavöstrand - Tatikka Remixes"
"These songs have been created from varioues voice samples recorded by lars with lirics taken from books and diaries from a common friend that have them published on the net. The most interesting and well recorded samples were sent to the artists involved in the project to do their own interpretations of the recordings and this is the final output
This is one of the most interesting and complex works on the sinergy-networks project due to the originality of the material to work with much differnet to previous approaches creating a challenge to all artists working to the max to place the voices on their so complex structures and sounds
The result is a very sutile and gentle sonic minimalism to listen." (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)

Fark + LOD - Chicharro EP
Continue reading "Fark + LOD - Chicharro EP"
"Chicharro is a minimal work by two islanders from gran canaria in tenerife. The tracks made togehter belonged to the extended collection of unfinished works that FARK has on his studio, a diehard surfer from the canary islands living in tenerife where he spends his free time creating ideas of fresh and organic minimalism when the waves are not good enough for surfing
Two of these unfinished ideas where then treated along with LOD to add obscurity, rythm, crackles and a more complex sequence to make a really interesting mix of freshness with our usual concept creating a nice balance between these so distant elements so difficult to have them meet
We have also included an original track from each artists so you can make your own opinion and to have a better understanding of this interaction between clarity and obscurity" (From the Sinergy Networks' release page)
