FAQ
Q: What's this site all about?
A: It's quite simple. This site is all about netlabels and their releases.
Q: So I see few netlabels here. What are the criteria?
A: The netlabels on this site are the ones I've listened to and personally liked. I listen to other types of music too, but for this particular site, I've picked the labels that are dealing with minimal, techno, abstract, experimental, ambient, noise and stuff like that. Since I don't know or care much about it, the genre or style is not mentioned in the releases.
Q: And who were you again?
A: Good question. OK. Since you asked, this site is run by Kengo Miyazaki who currently resides in Japan with the generous support of the netlabel owners and their artists.
Q: Can you notify me when you post new releases?
A: You can use RSS for that. Now that the feeds are powered by FeedBurner, if you don't know what RSS is, you can just click on the 'RSS TEXT' button on the top page and explore what it is about and how you can take advantage of it, but basically, all you have to do is to get some news aggregator/news reader (it could be one of those sites or browsers, of course). Then, right-click on the blue 'RSS TEXT' button again on the top page, copy the URL and paste it into your reader program. The orange one that's labeled 'RSS POD' is a podcast feed, and its contents may differ from the RSS text feed. You can now also receive email updates via RssFwd. All you have to do is to click on the 'RSSFWD:' button on the right of the top page, enter your email address, hit 'Subscribe' and confirm your subscription via email!
Q: You are missing earlier releases of some labels.
A: True. You can't find any earlier releases of any labels prior to August 1st, 2004 on this site (with few exceptions). Why August 1st, 2004? That's the day I started this homepage. I'm not planning to post any of the earlier releases here, so if you want to check them out, please go to the labels' sites and look for them.
Q: Posted dates are not always the release dates.
A: True again. Besides the time differences, the purpose of this site isn't addressing the release dates. I could adjust the posted dates to the release dates, but that would confuse the readers of the RSS feeds, so I won't do it.
Q: Can I do this and that with the contents of your site?
A: All the mp3s and the cover art of the releases belong to the artists and the labels. If you want to use them, go to their sites and consult with them. Like most of the mp3s of the labels here, this site is published under a Creative Commons license. If you're interested, go click on the 'SOME RIGHTS RESERVED' banner below to read the details. It's basically saying that you can do whatever you want with the contents of this site without asking me as long as you mention 'ACOWO' somewhere and don't make money out of it. Use the little 'ACOWO' banner below when you need one. Just remember one thing though that all the comments and trackbacks are subject to be deleted without notice. BTW, ACOWO is now transmitted into space...
Q: Are you making any money out of this? What's the purpose?
A: No. I'm not making any money out of this. The purpose of this site is to introduce and spread good quality netlabels and their great artists to the world. I might set up a little 'donate' button here in the near future to keep the domain name and pay for the server, but I don't know yet.
Q: Yo, I found a phat netlabel. Ya wanna introduce it on yo site?
A: OK. I'll check it out. If I like it, I'll introduce that label here on this site. Give me the address of the netlabel through the contact page.
